MNH Library

The library of the National History Museum is located in the building attached to the Castillo de Chapultepec, in the First Section of the Bosque de Chapultepec.

Schedule:

From Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Users:

The library is open to the public for consultation in the room.

Photocopy

The library currently has agreements for the exchange of books with the institutions listed in the following section.

Collections:
  General collection: books and monographs specialized in history and art in Mexico.

  MNH Collection: books, brochures and catalogs published by the museum or by the different INAH units, as well as co-editions with other institutions or publishing houses. The theme refers in particular to the National Museum of History.
  Folios: books whose size is greater than 30 cm, which have special format characteristics (binding, illustrations, typography).
  Brochures: printed materials with less than 50 pages or sheets.
  Newspaper library: magazines, gazettes and bulletins specialized in art, history, archeology and other disciplines.
  Query: encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, biographies, directories, guides and catalogs.
  Archivo Alcázar: product of the research project for the restoration of the Alcázar del MNH. It contains photostatic copies of documents and plans, as well as photographs.

Collection:

It protects photographic images of the objects that make up the collections that the museum has in its custody, as well as the building and the exhibition halls.

Users:

The photo library is for internal use. It attends to the needs of the museum itself, of publishing houses and other institutions that publish publications, such as museums, researchers and scholars of the history of Mexico.

It is necessary to request authorization in writing from Lic. Ma. Del Perpetuo Socorro Villarreal Escárrega, National Coordination of Legal Affairs of INAH, and cover the costs of obtaining the material and publishing rights. To complete the procedures or obtain more information, contact the MNH's photo library.
